Username reservations
Privacy Notice
In short: to hold a username for you we need the username and your email address. We use the email only for your reservation, never for marketing, and we never show it to anyone. We delete it 30 days after your reservation ends. You must be 18 or older.
1. Who we are
Amigo World is operated by Muftau Idris, an individual ("we", "us"). For anything about your information or a reservation, contact olamidesamson841@gmail.com.
This notice covers the username reservation service at reserve.amigoworld.com.ng. It is not an account and doesn't give access to Amigo World itself. Once you create an Amigo World account, the main Privacy Policy applies to that account.
2. Who can reserve
Amigo World is only for people who are 18 or older. You confirm your age when you reserve. We don't ask for identity documents. If we learn that a reservation was made by someone under 18, we'll withdraw it.
3. What we collect
- The username you choose and your email address.
- Your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- A one-time code. We email you a 6-digit code to confirm the address is yours. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it, which can't be turned back into the code. It expires after 15 minutes.
- Abuse-prevention fingerprints. To stop people flooding the service, we keep one-way fingerprints of the network address and email address used. They can't be turned back into the original and are deleted within two days.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and database providers keep standard request and error logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and reliability.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics on this site, and this site doesn't set cookies of its own. If the automated-abuse check (section 7) is switched on, Cloudflare may use its own short-lived technical data to tell people from bots.
4. Why we use it
- to confirm that the email address is yours;
- to hold the username for you, and to tell you it's confirmed;
- to let you renew your reservation;
- to let you claim the username when you create an Amigo World account with the same email address and confirm it;
- to prevent abuse, such as bulk or automated reservations, and to enforce the age requirement.
We don't use your email for marketing, we don't sell it, and we never show it to other people.
5. How a reservation works
- A reservation lasts 180 days from when you confirm your email.
- You can renew it with the same email address during its final 30 days, which starts a new 180-day period.
- If it isn't renewed or claimed, it ends and the username becomes available to others again.
- To claim it, create an Amigo World account with the same email address and confirm that address. Only that confirmed email can claim the username.
- By default one email address can hold one reservation. Reservations are free and can't be sold or transferred. A reservation gives no right to the username beyond the reservation period.
- Some system and brand names can't be reserved.
- We may withdraw a reservation that impersonates someone, uses a name that belongs to someone else, was made in bulk or with automated or fake email addresses, was made by someone under 18, or to settle a dispute.
6. How long we keep it
- Your reservation, including your email address: while the reservation lasts, then 30 days after it ends (when it's claimed, expires, is withdrawn, or was never confirmed). After that we delete it.
- Abuse-prevention fingerprints: deleted within two days.
- One-time codes: the scrambled copy is removed as soon as it's used, or when it expires or too many wrong attempts are made.
- Provider logs: kept for the providers' normal periods, then overwritten.
If you claim the username, the reservation ends and your account is then covered by the main Privacy Policy.
7. Who processes it for us
- Vercel Inc. hosts this website and its server function.
- Neon provides our database, hosted in AWS London, UK.
- Resend sends the code and confirmation emails.
- Cloudflare provides the automated-abuse check (Turnstile) on this page, if it's switched on.
These providers may process information outside Nigeria, for example in the UK, the EU or the US. They process it only to provide their service to us.
8. How we protect it
Your email address is stored in our database and never shown publicly. Codes are stored only in scrambled form and stop working after 15 minutes or five wrong attempts. Requests are rate-limited, and requests from other websites are refused. Only Amigo World administrators can see reservation emails, and only to manage reservations and settle disputes.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to see the information we hold about your reservation, to correct it, or to delete it early (which ends the reservation). You can also object to how we use it. Contact olamidesamson841@gmail.com, using the email address you reserved with so we can confirm it's you. Please also use this address if you believe someone has reserved a name that belongs to you. You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local data-protection authority.
10. Changes to this notice
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we'll update it on this page and, where appropriate, tell people who hold a reservation by email.
